What does a harvest crew need for field sanitation?
A harvest crew needs one toilet and one hand-washing facility for every 20 workers, within a quarter-mile walk or five minutes of the work, under Cal/OSHA Title 8 section 3457. Toilets must be separate for each sex, stocked with paper, and kept clean. Sinks need soap, water and single-use towels.

How do I plan units across orchard blocks?
Plan units across orchard blocks by mapping where each crew works each day and placing a unit at the lane end nearest the work. When blocks are more than a quarter mile apart, use towable units the crew moves, or schedule moves with us as the crew advances.
- List crew size per block and shift.
- Mark lanes the service truck can drive when dry.
- Place one toilet and one hand-wash unit per 20 workers at each active block.
- Share gate codes and a field contact.
How often should harvest units be serviced?
Harvest units shared by 15 to 20 workers should be serviced twice a week. Long days, dust and late-summer heat fill tanks and empty water faster than spring work. Hand-washing stations need water refilled at every visit, and more often when crews wash pesticide residue.
Set service on days the crew is in the same block, so the driver can find the units quickly.
What paperwork helps if Cal/OSHA visits?
Keep the rental agreement, the service log dates and a simple map of unit locations for each week. A dated service record shows units were kept clean and stocked. Our invoices list each unit and service visit, which supports your records.
