What do porta potty renters ask before booking?
Renters ask about four things more than anything else: when the unit arrives, what the full price includes, which unit fits their job, and how cleaning works. The questions below are grouped by topic, and each answer starts with the direct answer.
- Booking and delivery
- Price and billing
- Choosing a unit
- Placement and access
- Cleaning and service
- Events
- Job sites and farms
- Cancellation, changes and damage
Booking and delivery
How far ahead should I book a porta potty?
Book standard units 3 to 7 days ahead for most dates, and 1 to 2 weeks ahead for May and June graduation weekends and holiday weekends. Restroom trailers need 2 to 4 weeks. Same-day orders are possible when you call before noon.
What time of day will the driver come?
Deliveries run between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Saturday. You can ask for morning or afternoon, and the driver calls about 30 minutes before arriving. Event units usually arrive the day before to remove timing risk.
Do you deliver on Sundays?
Routine routes do not run on Sunday. A Sunday event gets its unit on Saturday or Friday, and pickup is Monday. Those extra days are not charged.
Can you deliver before my crew starts at 6 am?
Deliveries start at 7 am. For an early crew, book the unit for the afternoon before so it is waiting when the crew arrives.
Can you deliver to a site with no street address?
Sites with no address are normal for new tracts, orchards and open land. Text a dropped map pin or cross streets and mark the spot with a stake or cone.
Do you service my area?
We deliver to towns within about 80 miles of Turlock, including Modesto, Merced, Stockton, Manteca, Tracy, Los Banos, Sonora and the Tri-Valley. Enter your ZIP in the delivery checker or call to confirm.
Are you a local company or a call center?
ApexFlow Restroom Co runs its own trucks out of Turlock. The person who answers the phone books the route, so the price and delivery window you hear are the ones you get.
Can I get the quote in writing for my boss or committee?
Every quote can be texted or emailed as an itemized PDF with the unit, delivery, pickup, service and tax lines. Quotes hold for 7 days.
Price and billing
Does the price include delivery and pickup?
Event quotes include delivery and pickup in the price. Job-site and long-term quotes show a one-time delivery line on the first 28-day bill. Pickup is included.
Is there a fuel charge, card fee or removal fee?
Any fuel, rush or card charge is listed on the quote before you pay. There is no surprise fee added to the invoice after the rental.
Is the price per unit?
The unit price is per unit. Delivery is usually charged once per trip, so two units on one delivery cost less than two separate orders.
How do I pay?
Event rentals are paid by card when you book. Long-term rentals charge the card on file at the start of each 28-day cycle. Repeat business customers can request invoicing.
Why is a 28-day rental the same price for two weeks?
Most of the cost is the truck trips, pumping and disposal, not the days. A 28-day cycle covers delivery, weekly service and pickup, so the price stays the same for 10 days or 28.
Do you give discounts for more than one unit?
Multi-unit orders often save on delivery because one trip carries them all. Ask about seasonal pricing for harvest crews, churches, schools and weekly markets.
Can nonprofits skip sales tax?
Send a valid California tax-exemption certificate before billing, and sales tax is removed from the invoice.
Choosing a unit
What is the difference between standard, deluxe and flushable?
A standard unit has a seat, urinal and sanitizer over a holding tank. A deluxe unit adds a sink. A deluxe flushable adds a foot-pump flush and a sink. All three need no hookups.
Can you see the waste in a porta potty?
In a standard unit you can see into the tank under the seat, though blue deodorizer hides most of it. A deluxe flushing unit rinses the bowl so guests do not look into the tank.
Does a porta potty smell?
A clean, serviced unit has a light deodorizer scent. Odor builds with heat, full tanks and missed service. Shade, the right unit count and weekly service keep smell down.
What is a handicap porta potty?
A handicap or ADA-style unit is a wheelchair-accessible portable toilet with a ground-level floor, grab bars and room to turn a wheelchair. It also helps guests with walkers and parents with strollers.
Do you have porta potties with sinks inside?
The deluxe flushing unit has a foot-pump sink with soap and paper towels inside, filled from its own tank. No hose is needed.
Do you have a porta potty on a trailer?
Towable units on small trailers are available for farms and crews that move during the day. They are hitched and moved by your crew between blocks.
Is a restroom trailer self-contained?
A restroom trailer needs a garden-hose water supply and a 110-volt outlet. Where there is none, add a fresh-water tank and a generator.
Placement and access
Does the porta potty need to be on level ground?
A unit should sit on level, firm ground so it does not rock or tip. Driveways, gravel and packed dirt are best. Short dry grass works too.
Will the truck drive on my lawn?
The truck stays on pavement or firm gravel. The crew can wheel a unit a short way onto grass, so keep the spot within about 25 feet of where the truck parks.
How wide does my gate need to be?
A standard unit needs a gate at least 48 inches wide. A wheelchair-accessible unit needs about 8 feet of clear width, so it usually goes in a driveway or open lot.
Can I move the unit myself after delivery?
A full unit can weigh well over 300 pounds and may tip. Call and we will move it on the next route day.
Can it go on the street in front of my house?
A unit in a street or sidewalk needs a city encroachment permit. A driveway or side yard avoids that step.
What if the driver cannot place the unit where I asked?
The driver calls you before choosing another spot. If the site is blocked and no safe spot exists, the trip may be billed as a dry run, so share gate codes and clear the path.
Can the unit sit at a farm venue or church lot all weekend?
A unit can stay at a venue from the day before your event until the next business day. Ask the venue first, since some farm venues and churches limit outside equipment on their grounds.
Can I lock the unit?
Units have a hasp for a padlock. Bring your own lock and share the code for long-term service.
Cleaning and service
How often is the porta potty cleaned?
Rentals of a week or longer are pumped, cleaned and restocked once a week. Crews over 10 workers or units in summer heat often need two visits a week.
Does it come with toilet paper?
Every unit is delivered with two rolls of toilet paper and full sanitizer or sink supplies. Paper is restocked at each service visit.
Can I get an extra cleaning before an inspection or event?
Extra service visits can be added any day. Call or text, and the visit goes on the next route through your area.
Is the event unit cleaned during my party?
Event units arrive clean and stocked and are serviced at pickup. Multi-day festivals can add a mid-event service.
Do you pump porta potties that I own?
Pump-out service for customer-owned units can be added to our route days. Call with the count, location and how often they need pumping.
Events
Will I be charged for extra days around my event?
Extra days around your event are not charged. A Saturday party unit can come Friday and leave Monday at the same flat price.
How do I stop strangers using the unit before my event at a park?
Add a padlock when the unit arrives and remove it before the event. Leave it unlocked for pickup.
Should I get one for women and one for men?
Two units labeled by gender shorten lines at parties of 60 to 100 guests. For smaller parties, one unit works for everyone.
Do I need hand washing if we are serving food?
Hand washing is a good idea any time guests eat with their hands. A deluxe unit with a sink or a separate hand-washing station both work.
Can you do a porta potty for a funeral or celebration of life?
Units for memorials and celebrations of life are set the day before and picked up the next business day, with as little fuss as possible.
Can I book units every week for a farmers market?
Weekly markets save money on a 28-day rental with weekly service instead of repeat event drop-offs. Units can be locked between market days.
Job sites and farms
How many porta potties does my crew need?
Cal/OSHA requires at least one toilet per 20 workers of each sex. With weekly service, plan one standard unit per 10 workers so the tank does not fill early.
Do farm crews need hand-washing stations?
Cal/OSHA §3457 requires one hand-washing facility per 20 field workers within a quarter-mile walk or five minutes of the work.
Can units follow my crew between orchard blocks?
Towable units or a scheduled move to the next block keep toilets within the quarter-mile limit. Give us the week's block plan.
Can you invoice my company?
First orders are paid by card. Repeat contractors and farms can request a business account with invoicing and a billing contact.
Cancellation, changes and damage
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel 48 hours or more before delivery for a full refund. Inside 48 hours, half is refunded. Same-day and rush orders cannot be refunded once the truck is dispatched.
Can I move my date if the weather turns bad?
Rescheduling is free with at least 24 hours notice before delivery, subject to availability on the new date.
Can I extend my rental?
Call at least a day before the scheduled pickup. Event rentals extend by a few days at no or low cost. Long-term rentals simply roll into the next 28-day cycle.
What happens if the unit is tipped over or vandalized?
Normal wear is on us. Damage from vandalism, fire, theft, tipping or misuse is billed to the renter, along with any extra cleaning needed.
Can I get a receipt for my insurance claim?
Every rental includes an itemized paid receipt that you can send to an insurance adjuster.
